For years, the Drupal community has talked about a component-driven future. The Drupal Canvas is where that future finally becomes a reality. This is more than just an evolution of Layout Builder; it's a fundamental paradigm shift in how we think about building with Drupal.

We built it. We optimized it. We secured it. But outside of our issue queues and Slack channels, does the wider tech world know—or care?

For years, the Drupal community has suffered from a "build it and they will come" mentality. We have created one of the most robust platforms on the web, yet we often find ourselves preaching to the converted in a comfortable, self-referential bubble.

Drupal AI 2.0 represents a major step forward in how AI can be integrated into Drupal projects. This session introduces the Drupal AI module as a framework rather than a single feature, explaining its core concepts, architecture, Symfony AI integration, helper features and goals.

We’ll share how AI-powered search features were introduced to the Aalto University website to improve the search experience for the site’s various user groups – from students and staff to applicants and other external visitors.

We all make mistakes. Let’s talk about understanding our mistakes, failing fast, owning up and moving forward, keeping customers happy and the business flowing.

In this session, I will explore how the web consumes energy, the major drivers behind this consumption, and what designers and developers can do to reduce it.

The session will continue with a brief analysis of AI’s energy footprint, comparing different use cases such as text generation and image generation.

By the end of the session, you will likely oscillate between thoughts of “we are screwed” and “yes, we can do it.” The session will conclude on a high note, outlining a path forward.

While technical expertise is the foundation of our work, the success of a project often depends on the non-coding skills. This session looks into improving effective communication, navigating difficult client situations and sharing the responsibility for the ticket lifecycle.
